Electric and hybrid cars
IMI Level 3 qualified
Our technicians are trained and qualified to IMI Level 3 to work safely on electric and hybrid vehicles.
QualifiedServicing
Hybrids still have an engine that needs oil and filters. EVs need brakes, fluids, filters and checks.
To scheduleBrakes
EVs and hybrids use their brakes less, so discs can rust and calipers seize. We check and clean them.
Common issue12V battery
Every EV and hybrid has a small 12V battery too. If it goes flat the car will not start.
TestedLooking after an electric or hybrid car
Electric and hybrid cars need less routine work than a petrol or diesel car, but they still need regular servicing. Hybrids have an engine that needs oil and filters, and every electrified car has brakes, suspension, tyres, a cabin filter, coolant and a 12V battery.
- Brakes: regenerative braking means the brakes are used less, so discs can rust and calipers can stick. It is a common reason for an MOT failure.
- Tyres and suspension: EVs are heavy and quick to pull away, so tyres and suspension parts can wear faster.
- MOT: EVs and hybrids need an MOT from three years old, like any other car. EVs do not have an emissions test.
Servicing with an independent garage keeps your manufacturer warranty, as long as the work follows the schedule. If your car shows a hybrid or EV system warning, book a diagnostic check.

Questions
Are your technicians qualified to work on electric cars?
Yes. Our technicians hold the IMI Level 3 qualification for electric and hybrid vehicles, so they are trained to work safely on and around high-voltage systems.
Do electric cars need servicing?
Yes. They have no engine oil, but the brakes, suspension, tyres, cabin filter, coolant and 12V battery all need checking. Follow the schedule in your service book.
Will servicing with you affect my warranty?
No. You can have your car serviced by an independent garage during the warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer schedule.
Why do EV brakes need attention?
Regenerative braking means the brakes are used less, so discs can rust and calipers can stick. We check and clean them at every service.
Do EVs need an MOT?
Yes, from three years old, like any other car. There is no emissions test for a fully electric car.
What warranty do I get on parts?
Every part we fit has at least a 12-month warranty against failure. Premium parts come with 24 months.
